As part of our World Book Day celebration of reading, we were visited by award-winning author, screenwriter and Professor of Reading, Frank Cottrell Boyce. During a magical afternoon, Frank spent time discussing the inspiration behind books such as Cosmic, Millions, The Unforgotten Coat, Sputnik's Guide to Life on Earth and The Astounding Broccoli Boy. As well as sharing secrets about how he came to write the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics, Frank told children what it's like to come face to face with a Dalek, when working as a writer of episodes of Dr Who.
The children asked some tough questions, including "What would you go back and change about any of your books?" and even "What would you go back and change about your life?" Frank answered all of them with good humour, giving a great insight into his life as a writer. The children were inspired in every way.
