Geography

In Geography this half term we would have been learning about rivers.

We are very fortunate to have a lovely river in Skelmersdale. We are also close to many canals. Use the link below to find your closest ones. If you are able to visit one safely, maybe you could record what you see. Are there any plants or animals that you wouldn’t see if there wasn’t a river or canal? Remember to always take care by water and stay with an adult at all times.

Research questions

  1. What is the difference between a river and a canal?
  2. How were the canals used in the past?

If you look at the document below you will find lots of information about our waterways. Perhaps you could create a presentation or leaflet to share what you have found out about them.

Check out the links on this page to learn more about water safety.
