Welcome to the 2YO room at Blossom Nursery
At Blossom Nursery, we run two sessions each day:
Session 1 – 8.45am – 11.45am
Session 2 – 12.30 – 3.30pm
Each session costs £10. If you are eligible for 15hours free 2 year old care, this means you will receive 5 sessions for free.
Children are also able to stay for sessions 1 and 2, meaning their day would run from 8.45 – 3.30pm. Lunch can be provided if you wish.
Your fixed session times will be planned and discussed with the room leader during your induction visit. Additional sessions may be booked, if there are spaces available. These must be booked a week in advance to ensure correct staffing numbers.
Whether your child attends session 1, session 2 or both sessions in one day, your child will have a happy and busy day! A typical day in our two year old room includes:
How two year olds learn
Every child is unique and we love to find out how each of them like to learn as individuals. Whilst interests and personalities can be very different, often how two year olds do things can be quite similar. We call the way in which they do things ‘schemas’.
Schemas are patterns of behaviour that children display over time. Schemas are the way children enjoy doing things, the way they like to explore and a way to share their thoughts and ideas.
Children’s schemas may show through:
Have you ever wondered why your child does something in a particular way or only likes certain things? Have you ever noticed your child organising or hiding toys? Constantly throwing toys or moving toys back and forth? Schemas can provide an explanation for these types of behaviours.
There a several common schemas that can often be spotted in children’s play. Once recognised, parents, carers and professionals can support and further children’s learning by planning exciting activities tailored to how they learn best.
Being Two!
I’m not trashing the place…I am just exploring
I’m not being a nuisance asking why…I am just curious
I’m not having a paddy to annoy you…I am just trying to
express how I feel
I’m not being messy dripping the glue…I am just being creative
I’m not just tapping your leg to hurt you…I just want a cuddle
I am just being two!
